History

This 25-acre ranch was started in 1957 by John Gardiner; a local tennis teacher who had a dream of creating the ideal tennis vacation retreat. Today, 50 years later, the dream lives on. When he started the camp, Gardiner, then the head professional and sports director for Del Monte Lodge at Pebble Beach, had a vision of combining the beauty and luxury of a first-class resort with excellent tennis instruction.

The Resort, built on a former apricot orchard in Carmel Valley, became the first of its kind, and Gardiner has since been recognized by Town and Country Magazine as "the founder of the American tennis resort. " Tennis Magazine rated the resort as one of the "Top 25 adult Tennis Camps in America" in 2005. It has set the standard for tennis resorts, featuring its famous tennis clinics.
